Peackles, Paint & Precipitation
We're starting the blog off strong with a rather great week of goings-on.
Canada Day
On Wednesday we celebrated Canada Day, which is possibly the worst day of the week to be celebrating such. Being right in the middle of the week makes it unworthy of taking additional days off, so you spend your workdays on either side feeling a bit disjointed.
Nonetheless, we had big plans to smoke some ribs in our Green Egg, spend the day on the patio enjoying drinks and music, and generally having a lazy day full of fresh air.
The weather had other plans.

What was supposed to be a hot sunny day turned into a very hot day with an unexpected onslaught of severe thunderstorms with heavy rain, lasting almost four hours straight. We managed to finish the ribs with a careful tinfoil tent over the Egg vent & an umbrella for collecting. Needless to say our other plans were derailed, so we came inside and played some Magic together instead.
Thankfully, unlike previous deluges, our basement did not flood. We'd since put a ton of preventative measures in place that kept our basement dry as a bone, though many of our neighbours weren't so lucky.
Painting the Accent Wall
This weekend, our primary activity consisted of painting the wall in which we recently removed another wall. It's been a project lasting almost seven months, and I'm eager to have it reach its conclusion. For now.

Eventually, I'll paint a mural on this wall, likely a world tree with its trunk over were the old wall sat (the wall is not perfectly even where the old wall connected, and I assume this would help hide it).
Peackles!
The garden has been doing splendidly, and we've finally reached the point of having way more sugar snap peas than we'll able to eat fresh. That means pickle time!
We used the Momofuku vinegar pickle recipe and now have a quart of delicious pickles in the fridge for snackin'.

Now, we relax and prepare to head into a busy work week, but not before diving into some SGDQ speedruns!
